james beard garden renovation

an article in december’s issue of garden design just caught my attention…one about the recent renovation of the james beard foundation’s garden in greenwich village. i’m always in for a good fixer-upper project.
the print issue includes a description of lessons learned during the process. i love how the tips can guide you through the smallest of garden design projects…and maybe a few little life projects too.
1. dream big
2. act realistically
3. brainstorm with the pros
4. work in small steps
5. identify the key visual anchors
6. figure out what you can postpone
7. be mindful of neighbors
8. identify the must haves
9. let design follow fuction
10. be true to the space
